What's New in Google Earth
Each month we highlight the newest additions to the built in Google Earth content. If you haven't been subscribing to Sightseer for long, you might want to check the forum for previous editions
New and Updated Layers
New NASA Layer- On July 18th we added a new Featured Content layer from the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The new layer has three components
Astronaut Photography of Earth - These placemarks showcase some of the best photos from the online Astronaut Photography collection
Satellite Imagery - This layer shows placemarks of some of the most interesting Earth imagery taken by NASA satellites over the years. Some placemarks also offer the option of downloading additional imagery from different years or seasons and overlaying them on the earth's surface
Earth City Lights - This layer provides a high resolution image overlay showing city lights visible from space at night. More details from NASA. See a bigger picture of what it looks like
Updated Roads Layer - We updated the roads layer for 15 countries in Europe as well as adding more content for the Netherlands, like business listings layers and country names in Dutch. Check out these new and updated layers if you are planning a trip to Europe. More details on this update are available on the Google Lat-Long blog
